WRITING TV PILOTS 2 | IN PERSON (9/9 - 10/14)

WRITING TV PILOTS 2 | IN PERSON (9/9 - 10/14)

$345.00

TV Pilots – Level Two is an exciting workshop class that enables students who are about to write a comedy or dramatic pilot to experience a virtual “writer’s room” – getting real time feedback. The course is also great for writers who have already begun writing their pilot, or who have a finished pilot they want to rewrite.

You will get constructive and passionate feedback from the teacher and other students, the sort of feedback almost impossible to find online, in a sharing, trusting Chicago Filmmakers class. 30-minute comedy or 60-minute drama pilots are welcome. Students will also learn about the business of television and how to write pitch decks and bibles to get their scripts out into the world for consideration. Instruction will cover business aspects of the current TV landscape, how freelance writers get staffed, and how writers collaborate “in the room.”

Throughout this class you will learn how to envision the world of your show; create characters and conflict; break(build) a story; and nail down your show’s structure, tone, story, and act breaks. By the end of the course, the goal will be to have a finished pilot ready to marketed and sent out.

Course Length: 6 weeks

Times: Tuesdays, September 9 - October 14, 2025, from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM.

Location: Online

Instructor: Paul Peditto

This class will be held online via Zoom on Tuesdays, July 15 to August 26 from 6:30 – 9:30PM Central.

In this fast-paced course, you will take your idea for television and turn it into an outline, write intensively, and get feedback from the instructor and fellow participants every week. Throughout this process, you learn how to envision the world of your show; create characters and conflict; break (build) a story; and nail down your show's structure, tone, story, and act breaks. By the end of the course, you will work toward a full beat sheet and/or script pages for a 30 or 60-minute pilot.

Technical requirements: Students can access the course via a computer or smartphone. While access to a webcam or phone camera is preferable, only audio and the ability to view video are required. Students will need to install the Zoom app on their computer or smartphone, but no account is required.
